Who doesn’t love crocheted washcloths? This pattern is worked in the round, so you can make the washcloth as large as you’d like without too much advance planning!

This pattern can be made with any weight yarn, as long as you use the hook size recommended on the ball-band. We recommend a cotton or linen yarn.

If you’d like to get the ‘ridges’ that are shown in the sample washcloths, then crochet through the back loop only. For a ‘more traditional’ look, crochet through both loops. This decision is purely stylistic, and you’ll have a great washcloth either way.

This pattern is a beginner-level pattern, using single crochet and a single crochet increase

alternative suggestion
In this pattern, the line-by-line write-up is slightly more confusing than the ‘general principle’ of the pattern… diastelo recommends thinking of the pattern in the following way:
Mark the center of each sc3 for the next row.
Round 3-end: Sc around until you reach the middle stitch of the sc3 from the previous row, sc3 into it. Repeat from 3 more times. (24, 32, 40, etc. (+8 after each row))
