K = knit
P = purl
tbl = through back of the loop
K2tog = knit two together
psso = pass the slipped stitch over the stitch(es) just worked
Pattern
Cast on 12 sts (4 sts on each of 3 needles) and work in rounds as follows:
1st to 3rd row: K.
4th row: * Yo twice, K1 tbl; rep from * to end.
5th row: * (K1, p1) into 2 over threads of previous row, K1 ; rep from * to end
6th row: Before commencing row, K one st from left-hand needle on to end of previous needle, * yo twice, sl 1, K2tog, psso; rep from * to end.
Rep 5th and 6th rows 3 times more, then 5th row once more.
14th row: * K2, K twice into next st; rep from * to end.
15th to 18th row: K.
19th row: *Yo twice, sl 1, K1, psso, yo twice. K1; rep from * to end.
Rep 5th and 6th rows 9 times more.
38th row: *(K1, p1) twice into 2 over threads of previous row, K1; rep from * end.
39th to 44th row: K.
45th row: * Yo, K8, K2tog; rep from * to end.
46th and following alternate rows: K.
47th row: * Yo, K1, yo, Sl 1, K1, psso, K5, K2tog; rep from * to end.
49th row: * Yo, K3, yo, sl 1, K1, psso, K3, K2tog; rep from * to end.
51st row: * Yo, K5, yo, sl 1, K1, psso, K1, K2tog; rep from * to end.
53rd row: * Yo, K2, K2tog, yo, K3, yo, sl 1, K2tog, psso; rep from * to end.
54th row: *K4, (K1, p1 and K1) into over thread of previous row, K5; rep from * to end.
55th row: * Yo, K11, yo, K1 tbl; rep from * to end.
56th row: K.
57th row: Before commencing row, K one st from left-hand needle on to end of previous needle, with crochet hook work * 1 dc into next 4 sts and slip off, 10 ch, 1 dc into next 3 sts and slip off, 10 ch; rep from * ending with 1 ss into first st. Fasten off.
Damp and pin out to measurement.
