“SNUGGLE PUFF” Crocheted Circular Face Scrubbie

I LOVE Mei Lynne Travis’ Crochet Coasters. They’re so simple and beautiful. I used her pattern as a jumping-off point to make my simple circles double-sided face scrubbies, substituting Half-Double Crochet stitches for the Double Crochet she typically uses.

This crocheted face scrubbie fits snugly over three or four of your fingers allowing you to use it without the need to hold on tight to it with your opposable thumbs. ;o)

One of these is fabulous used with an exfoliating scrub! I love it because there’s no huge floppy washcloth to contend with, allowing you to target trouble spots with ease.

It takes just a small amount of scrap yarn, but being new to this “designing” thing, I’ve no idea how much that might be. (Any way to figure that out without frogging the whole thing?)

If you don’t have access to a bulky yarn like the Peaches & Creme double worsted I used, you can simply hold two strands of worsted weight yarn together to replicate the heftiness of this scrubbie. I’ve made several others in regular worsted weight cotton using only one strand of yarn that look great and work just fine.

Gauge is 5 rounds of Half Double Crochet and 1 partial round (about two-thirds of a complete round) of Single Crochet around the edge = 4½” in diameter.

Oh--and one more thought: depending on how tightly you crochet, you might want to go up a hook size or two. I just finished another one of these and it initially came out smaller than 4½“ (which is just about perfect for my hand) in diameter so I added an extra round of SC before assembling the two circles. I don’t like the look as well as the one on this page in the Aztec colorway so I will be going up to at least a G or H for the two circles, and an I or a J for the SC join next time.

If you make one I’d love to see it. If you find any errors, please inform me of those, too, so I can make corrections.

Enjoy!

Just a hint: You can use any circular scrubby pattern to create my double-sided variation.
I particularly like Mei Lynne’s coasters as a possible pattern as well as Kristy Ashmore’s Simple Scrubby (free pattern on Ravelry), so if you want additional options in regular worsted weight yarns, try one of theirs.
