Swatch

This swatch shows the st pattern used in the bookmark. I only had wool on hand, crochet cotton will result in much clearer st definition ~ Sarah

Cast on 28sts

Row 1 (right side): knit 2 edge stitches; sl 1, k2tog, psso, k7, yo, k1, yo, p2, yo, k1, yo k7, k3tog, k2.

Row 2 & every alt row thru 10: k2, p11, k2, p11, k2.

Row 3: k2, sl 1, k2tog, psso, k6, (yo, k1) 2x, p2, (k1, yo) 2x, k6, k3tog, k2.

Row 5: k2, sl 1, k2tog, psso, k5, yo, k1, yo, k2, p2, k2, yo, k1, yo, k5, k3tog, k2.

Row 7: k2, sl 1 k2tog, psso, k4, yo, k1, yo, k3, p2, k3, yo, k1, yo, k4, k3tog, k2.

Row 9: k2, sl 1 k2tog, psso, k3, yo, k1, yo, k4, p2, k4, yo, k1, yo, k3, k3tog, k2.

Rep these 10 rows until long as you wish. End with 3 rows of garter stitch & end off. Weave in ends.

Another finish is: when long enough after doing a row 10, k2tog at the beginning & end of each odd row, purling back on the even rows until down to a point. End off & weave in ends.

You can add a tassel on the pointed end or a blunt end or embellish as wished. Your choice.

Wet, impale on a drying board with pins until dry. Inflict on victim. <vbeg>
