GAUGE: 11 dc = 2 inches
BEACH COAT
Pattern Stitch:
Row 1: Ch 3, * skip 1 st, 1 dc in next st, ch 1, repeat from * across row, ch 2, turn.
Rows 2,4, 6 and 8: 1 dc in first space, 2 dc in next and in each remaining ch 1 space, ch 3, turn.
Rows 3, 5, 7 and 9: Skip 1 dc between next 2 dc, * ch 1, skip 2 dc, 1 dc between next 2 dc, repeat from * across row, ch 2, turn.
Row 10: Skip first dc, 1 dc under each ch 1 space and in each dc, ch 2, turn.
Rows 11 through 18: Work even in dc. Repeat these 18 rows for pattern stitch.
___BACK: Using CC, ch 120 (132-144) sts. Work 1 dc in 3rd st from hook and in each remaining st of ch. Then working in pattern st, dec 1 st each end of every 7th row 8 times. Work even in pattern as established until piece measures 20 inches.
___SHAPE ARMHOLES: Sl st across 8 sts, work to last 8 sts, turn. Work even until armholes measure 7 (7-1/2-8) inches.
___SHAPE SHOULDERS: Rows 1,2 and 3: Sl st over 8 (9-10) sts, work to last 8 (9-10) sts. Fasten off.
___LEFT FRONT: Using CC, ch 60 (66-72) sts. Work in same manner as on back, dec 1 st at arm edge every 7th row 8 times. Work even until piece measures 20 inches.
___SHAPE ARMHOLE: Sl st across 8 sts, work to end of row. Work even until armhole measures 4-1/2 (5 - 5-1/2) inches, ending at front edge.
___SHAPE NECK: At front edge, sl st over 6 (7-7) sts, work to end of row. On the next row work to last 5 (6-7) sts, turn. Sl st over 5 (6-7) sts, work to end of row. Then dec 1 st at same edge EVERY ROW 3 times. Work even until armhole measures 7 (7-1/2 - 8) inches.
___SHAPE SHOULDER: At arm edge sl st over 8 (9-10) sts 3 times. Fasten off.
___RIGHT FRONT: Work to correspond to left front, reversing all shaping.
___SLEEVES: Using CC, ch 80 (86-92) sts. Work 1 row dc, then work in pattern st until piece measures 14 inches. Fasten off.
___FINISHING: Sew underarm, shoulder and sleeve seams. Set in sleeves. Using MC, work 2 rows dc around entire jacket and sleeve edges. Turn up lower edge of sleeve to form cuff. Using MC double, ch 10 inches. Sew 1 ch to each side at neck edge.
BATHING SUIT
___BRIEF: BACK: Using MC, ch 124 (136-148) sts.
___Row 1: 1 dc in 3rd st from hook and in each remaining st of ch, ch 3, turn - 123 (135-147) sts.
___Row 2: 1 dc in first st, * skip 2 sts, (1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc) in next st *, repeat between *'s across row, ch 3, turn.
___Row 3: 1 dc in first st, * ch 1, 1 dc in next ch 1 space *, repeat between *'s 17 (19-21) times more, 1 dc in each of next 13 (15-17) dc, repeat between *'s across row, ch 3, turn.
___Row 4: 1 dc in first st, ch 1, * (1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc in next space) * 15 (18-20) times, 1 dc in each of next 15 (17-19) sts, ch 1, repeat between *'s to end of row, ch 3, turn.
___Row 5: 1 dc in first st, * (ch 1, 1 dc in next ch 1 space) * 14 (16-18) times, 1 dc in each of next 19 (21-23) sts, repeat between *'s across row, ch 3, turn.
___Row 6: 1 dc in first st, ch 1, * (1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc in next ch 1 space) * 14 (16-18) times, ch 1, 1 dc in each of next 21 (23-25) sts, repeat between *'s across row, ch 3, turn. Continue in this manner to work 1 less space each side of centre sts every other row and to work 2 more dc in centre every other row, keeping pattern as established 3 times more.
___SHAPE CROTCH: Still working in pattern as established dec 2 sts each end of row. Keeping 1 space each end of row, continue to dec 2 sts each end of EVERY ROW until there are 21 dc sts in a row. Fasten off.
___FRONT: Using MC, ch 120 (132-144) sts. Work in same manner as on back until 12 rows have been completed.
___SHAPE LEGS: At the beg of the next row sl st over 13 (15-19) sts, work in dc to last 13 (15-19) sts. Continue to work in dc with 1 space each end of row, dec 2 sts EVERY ROW as on back crotch until 17 dc remain. Work even for 6 rows. Then inc 1 st each end of every other row twice -21 sts. Fasten off.
___FINISHING: Sew crotch and side seams. Work 1 row sc over elastic thread around each leg and top edge.
___FRONTBAND: Mark centre front. Join MC at 10th st from centre front st and ch 3. Work 1 dc in each of 21 sts across centre front, ch 3, turn.
___Row 2: Dec 1 st, 1 dc in each of next 7 dc, ch 2, skip 2 centre sts, 1 dc in each of next 7 sts, dec 1 st, ch 3, turn. Keeping centre front space, continue to dec 1 st each end of EVERY ROW twice more. Work even in pattern as established for 9 rows. Then inc 1 st each end of EVERY ROW 3 times. Work 1 row even. Fasten off. Work 1 sc in each long edge. Fasten off.
___BRA: RIGHT CUP: Using MC, ch 19 sts. Work even in dc for 9 rows, ch 19. Work even on 36 sts for 5 rows.
___Row 14: Ch 3, turn. 1 dc in first st, * skip 2 sts, (1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc) in next st, repeat from * across row, ch 3, turn.
___Row 15: * Skip first dc, 1 dc in ch 1 space, ch 1, * 1 dc in next ch 1 space, ch 1, repeat from *, across row.
___Row 16: Repeat Row 14: Working in pattern as established, dec 1 st at beg of next row (upper edge) and repeat this dec every row 9 times more. Fasten off.
___LEFT CUP: Work to correspond to right cup, reversing all shaping.
___FINISHING: Sew ch to edge of rows to form dart of bra. Sew tog at centre front. Work 1 row sc over elastic thread around entire bra.
___BACK STRAP: Using MC, work 10 dc across back of 1 cup. Working in dc, dec 1 st at upper edge EVERY ROW 4 times. Work even on 6 dc for 13 inches. Fasten off. Work in same manner across back of other cup.
___SHOULDER STRAP: Starting at dec edge of cup and using MC, work 6 dc. Continue in dc for 12 inches. Fasten off. Work other shoulder strap in same manner. Turn up 1 inch hem at end of each strap to form loop and sew. Sew bra to frontband.
HAT
___Starting at centre top and using MC, ch 6, join with sl st to form a ring.
___Round 1: Ch 1, 11 sc in ring, join with sl st to top of ch.
___Round 2: Ch 2, 1 dc in first st, 2 dc in each of next 11 sts, join - 24 sts. (Always count ch as first st).
___Round 3: Ch 2, 1 dc in each of next 3 sts, ch 1, * 1 dc in each of next 4 sts, ch 1, repeat from * around, join.
___Round 4: Ch 2, 1 dc in first st, 1 dc in each of next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st, ch 1, * 2 dc in next st, 1 dc in each of next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st, ch 1, repeat from * around, join. Continue in this manner to inc 12 sts EVERY ROUND 7 times more. There will be 20 dc between each ch 1. Work even in pattern as established until piece measures 7 inches. Fasten off. Join elastic thread in ring to measure 21 inches. Join to crown as follows: Insert hook into first st and holding elastic behind last row of crown, draw up a loop, yo and draw through 2 loops on hook (sc made over elastic), work 2 sc over elastic in each st.
___BRIM: Round 1: Ch 2, 1 dc in each st.
___Round 2: Ch 3, 1 dc in same st, * skip 2 sts, 1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc in next st, repeat from * around, join.
___Round 3: Ch 3, * skip 2 sts, 1 dc in next ch space, ch 1, repeat from * around, join.
___Round 4: Ch 3, 1 dc in next ch space, * 1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc in next ch space, repeat from * around, join. Repeat the last 4 rounds twice more. On the next round 1 sc in each st and 2 sc under each ch 1 space. Fasten off.
___FINISHING: Using 4 strands of CC, make a ch desired length and sew around hat.
___FLOWER: Using MC, starting at centre, ch 4, join with sl st to form ring.
___Round 2: 12 sc in ring, join.
___Round 3: Ch 3, * skip 1 st, 1 sl st in next st, repeat from * 4 times more, join - 6 ch 3 loops. Fasten off.
___Round 4: Join MC in any loop, * 1 sc, 2 dc, 1 sc in loop, repeat from * around. Fasten off.
___Round 5: Join MC in back of petal, * ch 5, sl st in back of next petal, repeat from * around - 6 loops. Fasten off.
___Round 6: Join MC in any loop, * 1 sc, 1 hdc, 2 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc, 1 sl st in sl st, repeat from * around. Fasten off.
___Round 7: Join MC in back of petal, * ch 7, sl st in next petal, repeat from * around. Fasten off.
___Round 8: Join MC in any ch loop, * 1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 2 tr, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc, 1 sl st in next st, repeat from * around. Fasten off. Sew flower to cord at end of crown.
