4.00mm crochet hook
Oddments of Worsted Weight Yarn in Main & Contrast Color Yarn

With 4.00mm hook and main color ch9, 1 shell (see abbrev above) in 6th ch from
hook, skip ch2, 1dc in last ch. Turn.
Next Row - ch3, 1 shell in ch1 space of shell, 1dc in top of ch5, Turn.
Next Row - ch3, 1 shell in ch1 space of shell, 1dc in top of ch3, Turn.
Rpt last row 13 more times until 16 shell rows have been worked in all. (For short or
longer bookmark, work more or less rows here. Turn.
Next Row - ch5, 1sc in ch1 space of shell, ch2, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.
Edging - ch1, 2sc in base of ch1, 2sc in next ch2 space, 1sc in sc, 2sc in ch5 space,
3sc 3rd of ch5, working down the side of bookmark, work 2sc in each row end, to corner,
3sc in 3rd of ch5, 2sc in ch2 space, 1sc in base of shell, 2sc in ch2 space, 3sc in last dc, working up the second side of bookmark and again in row ends, work 2sc in each row to
end, 1sc in base of first sc, sl st to first sc. Turn. Fasten off.
Join in contrast color, work 2 more rows of 1sc in each sc to end, working 3sc in all corners, sl st to first sc on each row. Fasten off.
Tassel - Using contrast color, cut 6 strips of yarn approx 6” long (if you prefer a longer
or a thicker tassel, just add more length and more strips), attach tassel to centre sc on
bottom of bookmark by folding in half, thread loose ends through sc from back to front
and pull through loop formed, pull secure and trim tassel so the ends are even.
Finishing - Sew in and tie off loose ends of yarn.
